Quarantine Walks (2020)

This project is a result of the Covid-19 pandemic. While in lockdown, my limited walk-able radius around my apartment included access to Lake Michigan on the North-side of Chicago. I was privileged to work from home and able to get outside for fresh air. I took walks nearly every day to the lake, making a 1 minute video of the lake view each time. I shared the videos to my Instagram feed hoping to bring relief to the viewer, albeit brief. A month into the lockdown I lost one of my part-time jobs due to the pandemic. With more time on my hands and need for a financial boost I started to make Polaroids as well as the 1 minute video of the lake. I sold the Polaroids at a reduced limited-time cost and sent them using USPS “snail mail” in an effort to create connection. I felt compelled to share my personal experience of living in lockdown while trying to continue to make a living as an artist. The following images were made throughout the months of April and May 2020. Most of the Polaroids have been sold, mailed or hand-delivered and are no longer in my possession.
